That is, this small community does not have an official political designation and is a socially cohesive area outside of any formal municipality. At about 15 miles and a 30-minute drive from Center City on I-95 S, Crum Lynne and Ridley Township have easy access to all the excitement, culture, and opportunities of Philadelphia, one of America’s most populous cities. As of the 2010 census, Ridley Township is home to approximately 30,000 people, and boasts a wide variety of businesses and parks, as well as a close proximity to many other colleges, businesses, and people.

History of Crum Lynne and Ridley Township
In addition to its diverse economy and convenient proximity to the city, Crum Lynne and Ridley Township have a rich history spanning nearly four centuries. The area was originally settled in the early seventeenth century by a group of Swedish explorers and then the Dutch in 1655. At this time, the area was known as Amos Land. In 1682, John Simcock of Ridley, Chesire, England purchased nearly 3,000 acres from William Penn, the founder of the English North American colony of the Province of Pennsylvania. After doing so, Simcock named the area after his English hometown, Ridley. In 1687, Ridley was officially recognized as a township; in 1906, it was recognized as a first-class township.
