Comfort Keepers® Annual Caregiver Appreciation Day
Two Comfort Keepers had the once in a lifetime opportunity of participating in the "first pitch" ceremony at the Phillies vs. Cubs game
On August 27th, 2017, Comfort Keepers® location owners Clark Bongaardt, Sallie Bongaardt, and Ian Bongaardt kicked off the inaugural annual Caregiver Appreciation Day with a bang.
For over 15 years, Comfort Keepers has provided award-winning in-home care to thousands of seniors across the Southeast Pennsylvania area, but it couldn't have been done without our outstanding team of caregivers. So, as a way to say "thank you" to all of the warmhearted Comfort Keepers, we celebrated by hosting our first annual Caregiver Appreciation Day at Citizens Bank Park where the Philadelphia Phillies played host to the Chicago Cubs.
Over 250 Comfort Keepers attended the event, which began with an unbelievable tailgate party filled with delicious local food trucks serving both traditional and "not-so-traditional" baseball foods. And, of course, all of the food was served as "all-you-can-eat" specialties!
But, the festivities didn't stop there. Special caregivers Timika Evans, of Springfield, and Maddy Waddy, of Jenkintown, had the thrilling experience of participating in the game's "first pitch" ceremony! Throwing out the first pitch was an extraordinary honor for the two Comfort Keepers, who are both longtime Phillies fans. And, this is just the first of many celebrations the Comfort Keepers caregivers have to look forward to.
“These caregivers are truly unique people. Most do this work because they like to help people,” said Sallie Bongardt. “We wanted to show our appreciation for their hard work and honor them" she further stated. Enjoying a day where we all come together while at a fabulous facility like “The Park” is spectacular,” she said.
And, with the help of the cheers from the 250 enthusiastic Comfort Keepers, the Phillies beat the Cubs by a score of 6-3.
The 2017 Comfort Keepers Annual Caregiver Appreciation Day was truly a phenomenal celebration, and we're already counting down until the next one!
